The Constitutional Court of Montenegro declared the fuel charge illegal

Representatives of opposition parties and the Montenegrin Society for the Protection of Consumer Rights (MANS) appealed to the Constitutional Court of Montenegro with a lawsuit declaring illegal the government's introduction of a fuel surcharge of 7 euro cents per liter of liquid fuel.

On October 14, 2015, the Constitutional Court of Montenegro granted this claim and recognized the government's decision as contradicting the Constitution of the Republic of Montenegro.

Let's remind, the fuel charge began to be charged from April 16, 2015. The funds were used to finance the construction of the Bar-Bolyar road section and sports. 5 euro cents for the road, 2 for the sport.

Between May 27 and October 7, 2015, 8.23 million euros were collected.

The decision of the Constitutional Court states that from the moment of its announcement, that is, on October 14, 2015, all fuel stations in Montenegro should stop charging fuel.
