What to do in Kolasin without snow?

Kolasin is a popular ski resort in the north of Montenegro, and many go there just behind the ski holidays. Since the beginning of the ski season in Facebook, the debate has not abated: Is there snow in Kolasin? What if there is no snow? Eventually, I was tired of listening to other people's reflections and I decided to personally check the situation in the city.

So. Snow is only on the slopes, wet, but there is. Rolling when you really want. In the city, of course, he does not, because of what he loses a bit of the atmosphere of a fairy-tale winter town, but still remains very pleasant.

As such, I did not have a goal to go skiing, but the hotel where I stayed, kindly picked up all the necessary equipment and drove to the slope, where I was convinced of the presence of snow and its suitability for skiing. After an hour of my suffering trying to feel like a steep skier, I finally realized that skiing is not a tin plate for everyone, I took a couple of mandatory photos for instagram and asked to go back, fortunately, hotel transport runs on schedule and there were no problems.

When I planned a trip, I chose between two hotels: Lipka and Biance (just because there are no other decent ones), and I rejected the idea with private apartments right away, because ... well, because of them you never know what to expect, and rest a la "at my grandmother in the village" I do not like. The selection of the hotel took place according to the photo, Biancea lured me with beautiful interiors and promises "to arrange an unforgettable Spa and wellness vacation". Nevertheless, I did not expect much from them. All the same, it's Montenegro, north, and the ideas about the quality here are peculiar.

Nevertheless, the hotel was great, warm, cozy and really beautiful, the staff at the reception smiling and speaking English well. The rooms corresponded to the photos, the pool turned out to be large (25 meters, according to the site of the hotel), and the spa staff perfectly relaxed my exhausted body (an hour on skis for a man who hardly controls a scooter, it's not a joke).

Speaking about the city itself, you can only say that it is small, sweet and ... everything. There are no entertainments there, I did not dare to test the local nightclubs (I just had to look at them, although I think that lovers of parties on the Budva embankment will appreciate them), restaurants of national cuisine, after a year of living in Montenegro, also do not represent interest. So I had no choice but to return and eat again at the hotel, and given that I had no complaints about the quality of the food or the service, the decision was right. The salad of tuna was real Italian insalata di tonno, and not "let's throw the fish into the salad and see what happens," and the wine list had something better than a fox.

Few impressed by the group of noisy Frenchmen, where I stumbled absolutely everywhere, from the lobby to the sauna, but after sharing a bottle of good wine in the hotel bar, I remembered the French school and we came to mutual understanding.

Summing up, I can say that you need to go to Kolasin, if not for snow, so for new impressions and the opportunity to be in a completely different world in 3 hours, to change the usual landscape of the coast to the majestic northern nature, to admire the pines and Tara.
