Kotor and Perast - the ancient pearls of Boki

Kotor is a charming city located on the coast of the Boka-Kotor Bay.

Not inferior to the beauty of Venice and Prague, as it absorbed the best elements of Venetian architecture and not only - thanks to the amazing harmony of various architectural styles, the city was listed as a UNESCO world cultural heritage. Kotor is really similar to Venice - as examples of architecture, and the atmosphere itself.

You can reach Kotor in several ways - along an incredibly picturesque road that surrounds the entire Boka-Kotor Bay, or through a tunnel in front of Tivat. The tunnel is free, but the magnificence of that small single-lane road through Risan and Perast can not be described in words - it's just necessary to visit a bright, hot, sunny day.

Parking is near the Old Town of Kotor paid (average price of 80 cents per hour), but you can stay a little further away - most often it's completely free.

Immediately surprises and touches some incredible number of cats in the Old City. They feel very comfortable here, and I do not doubt that this is partly due to the compassionate tourists.

You can get to the Old Town through the Sea Gate. Cafe outside is quite expensive and designed for tourists, inside the town itself there are many other good restaurants, inexpensive "baker" and even a supermarket. There are also two less noticeable entrance-exits: the North Gate and the South Gate, which are also called the gates of Gurdic.

Inside the Old City, St. Trifon's cathedral immediately visible, resembling the Powder towers in Prague in front of the Charles Bridge. I also recommend going to the Orthodox Serbian church of St. Nicholas - a charming place. If you decide to climb to the top, to the fortress, keep in mind that it can take about an hour and a half to do, there is absolutely nothing upstairs, you do not even buy water there, so take whatever you need with yourself and be extremely careful - sometimes there there are steep steps without a fence, and under you there will be several tens of meters of a steep wall.

Not far from Kotor is the city of Perast, unique in its beauty and quantity of inhabitants. There are only about 350 people living there, there are very few buildings, but they are all great, and from there for 5 euros you can go on a boat to the island of St. George with a temple complex and a lighthouse. The only complication is that inside the city there is again one lane for car traffic, but the city is so small that you can park on the road and walk it all on foot.

All Boca is an amazing place for walking and excursions. Probably, this is the first place to go when you are in Montenegro, especially if you fly to Tivat airport. Kotor from it is literally in 5 kilometers (through a tunnel).
